Art Inspired by Nature
I am an artist who likes reflecting on my beautiful coast and estuary location. My work emphasises the temporary beauty of life, using various media like acrylic, oil, print, pen and ink and collage.
Images can be a powerful way to express the beauty and fragility of our planet and the urgency of environmental issues.

About my Work
Inspired by My Surroundings
After a background studying at the Royal College of Art and working as a teacher and textile designer, I became a visual effects artist in the film industry.
Since moving to the south coast and living near the river and the beach I have worked mainly in paint, mixed media and pen and ink to respond to the landscape and seascape of the south coast.
The estuary of the river Adur serves as a metaphor for the flow of life encountering obstacles in its path. When the tide retreats from the river bed pebble islands are revealed which form some strange abstract shapes. Found beach stones have images of creatures embedded in them. Wading birds are another important element, as are smaller natural items such as seaweed and ray egg cases.
My love of travel provides an extra source of inspiration for my artwork.
